Its extremely difficult to generate a steady (self-employed) income when the tools you rely on keep failing or breaking down. It is frustrating when you obtain support and your internet connection and computer do not allow you to update and thank those who support you. I woke up New Years day ready to concur the world. I sat down in front of my computer and after two failed attempts my computer screen turned black and a OSX utilities box popped up.
Thanks to my Energy Body Batteries and people who expressed care and concern for my situation I was able to remain collected, not panicked and persevere through this difficult time
I have never changed my password, what is going on I wondered. I started with the disc utilities option and ran disc fix on all the drives but still could not get access to my computer. I was able to explore the drives but all the data was encrypted and my hard drive memory was maxed out. I tried the online help option with no immediate success. I tried to reinstall OS X but was denied access due to no OS X APP required from the apple App Store that I could not access due to a key chain passcode failure. I moved up to the top of the option list and tried restoring my computer from a Time Machine Backup. The last known working back up was showing a date of November 7 and after selecting it as a restore point the computer did not resolve itself. I then tried a back up from the external drive and after waiting 3 hours the computer drive remained unaccessible.
Feeling like all I could do on my own had been done I posted my problem on Facebook and immediately hope came pouring in by way of friendly comments. I was not ready to concede to replacing the hard drive and other parts just yet but decided to use one of a few local computer technicians that were recommended on my post. The earliest appointment was for the next morning, which gave me and my partner more time to trouble shoot the issue with a machine gun approach giving every google and Facebook tip a try. As recommended I went to Cnet for help on getting my passcode reset or bypassed however my computer was not giving me access to my login field. Not knowing what else to do I searched the term "iMac boots up to OS X utilities" and then clicked the search result "Step by Step to fix your Mac / Communities".
I arrived on an apple support page that had a list of 20 fixes to try. From the list of damaged hard drive symtoms besides the slight noise at boot up my hard drive did not seem damaged. #1 on the list was to do a reset of the system management control. After following the instructions it booted up the same, nothing changed. #2 suggested a PRAM test and after following the instruction we landed on a white page with a Prohibited symbol on it.
After discovering that the iMac sees the hard drive but does not see a useable operating system we went back to disc utilities and cleared enough space on the hard drive and initiated a system recovery.
After following the Setting up your Mac command prompt our computer was restored back to Lion OS X and from there we updated to the latest OS X Sierra.
Thanks to my partner Delight and everyone who contributed to the recovery of my iMac. Your continued purchases and supports sustain my life and keep me focused on the finish line.
