A side view of a self made frame of honey the bees created from the ceiling.
The bees created their own honeycomb attached to the ceiling. The size of each chamber is larger, the colour of the wax and honey are more vibrant.
I have a bucket of honeycomb that was removed from the frames I made.
Hand made frame allows the bees to create their own honeycomb and allows for easy honey harvesting.
Checking out the bees.jpg
I did not have a smoker so I used my fire bucket to hold smouldering grass in order to keep the bees focused on staying in the hive and not buzz around me.
This is a frame with honey and pollen. When bees are alerted to potential risk of harm to the hive they gather as much honey and pollen as possible before leaving the hive.
Checking on the bees.jpg
I am checking on the bees. The first thing I do is look under the frames to see if any queen bee combs are being pulled by the worker bees.
This is an image of uncapped Honeycomb filled with honey.
After all the honey is removed from the honeycomb you are left with bees wax.
Honey in the Honeycomb
This image shows a double layered uncapped wax comb full of honey. The honeycomb is where honey bees store and keep honey.
